Construction Inclusion Week Seeks to Advance Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Industry

Submitted by Jenny Hull on

From October 18-22, ClarkDietrich will join leading contractors and suppliers in observing Construction Inclusion Week. In its inaugural year, Construction Inclusion Week is an industry-wide awareness effort to create safe spaces for difficult conversations, provide educational insights, and to foster a more inclusive construction industry.

In 2020, a small group of general contractors created a consortium, Time for Change, to identify ways to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the construction industry. The theme of “Building the Foundation for Inclusion” will encourage focused dialogue and action in the industry.

Construction Inclusion Week invites every member of the construction industry to unite to advance issues such as unconscious bias in the workplace, supplier diversity, jobsite culture and community outreach. By working together, learning from one another, and taking actions towards maintaining a safe and inclusive work environment, Inclusion Week seeks to effect positive change in the industry for generations of workers to come.

ClarkDietrich is committed to supporting and advancing these ideals in its own facilities and throughout the communities in which we live and work. ClarkDietrich’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion mission is simple and goes back to our core values. We support inclusive behavior that nurtures innovation and fosters communication enabling us to share and develop the best ideas for our business. Understanding that we think differently and, leveraging these differences effectively, make us better teammates and a stronger company.
