BlazeFrame is an innovative steel framing fire stop system. An intumescent strip affixed to steel profiles simultaneously frames, fire stops, and sound seals both dynamic and static joints.

The cured intumescent is odor free, effective immediately, and remains unaffected by freezing or wet or humid conditions. BlazeFrame offers protection and support of wall framing materials for up to 3 inches of movement capability. Designs utilizing BlazeFrame assemblies eliminate caulks, sprays, drywall rips, and contour drywall ‘castle’ cuts throughout the joint systems. Our UL (Underwriters Laboratories) classified joint systems provide for positive attachment of wall framing, 100% unencumbered movement, smaller installed joints, and sound control with no fatigue or degradation.

How does it work?

The 2mm thickness of cured intumescent material adhered to metal profiles provides air, smoke and sound seals. When exposed to heat above 375 degrees Fahrenheit, the intumescent material expands up to 35 times its size. This provides protection from heat and flame passage during a fire event.

Corrugated strap for horizontal use to span fluted areas of unprotected or protected metal decks in up to 2 hr rated assemblies. Profile attached to fluted deck max 16”o.c. on both sides. (FSB) Flat Strap Backer

Backer for protection of reveals
Composite Fire Stop / Flat Strap Backer for use to protect Architectural design reveals (optional channel reveal over gap) for up to 2 hr rated assemblies. Minimum G40 coating. Profiles comply with ASTM C645 and provides a metal profile with intumescent material that is installed behind joints in wall sheathing where reveal moulding (Aluminium or Vinyl) are installed. Metal strap is used as a support for drywall and reveal attachment - Horizontal and Vertical.

 


FAS-093X Fire Rated Control Joint

(Fire Rated Control Joint) is a composite control joint with intumescent tape factory applied to the back side of the control joint. The FAS-093X has been tested according to UL-2079 “Test For Fire Resistance of Building Joint Systems” and is used to relieve stresses of expansion and contraction of drywall interior partitions or ceilings running in a horizontal or vertical direction. The opening is protected by an orange plastic tape to indicate the fire rating this tape is removed after joint compound has been applied and the finish is completed. The section is fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized steel complying with ASTM A653, and ASTM A1003.

Proper Installation of FAS-093X

The FAS-093X is a UL tested and certified fire rated control joint and is listed under UL report WW-D-0172.

Installation Requirements:

- The FAS-093X provides movement between drywall panels and may be installed in a vertical or horizontal direction
- The flanges may be attached to the drywall with staples or drywall fasteners
- The fire rated control joint is an extension of the drywall and must go the full length of the drywall joint
- At hollow metal frame doors the corrugated steel/intumescent profile must tuck behind the door frame the same distance as the drywall while the attachment flanges can abut into the door frame
- When installed vertically the fire rated control joint must be overlapped by the adjoining firestopping material by ½”
- Butt joints must be aligned tight and in contact or slightly overlapped by removing a portion of the intumescent tape so that the V-groove can fit into the adjoining V-groove of the FAS-093X
- FAS-093X can be used in wood or metal stud framed walls
- FAS-093X can be used on one side of the wall for walls that only require thermal expansion and not through wall expansion
- FAS-093X can be installed on any fire rated wall as described in U300 or V400 wall designs.
