West Chester, OH – At ClarkDietrich, we’ve always celebrated – better yet championed – workplace diversity and inclusion among our more than 1400+ employees. It’s a perspective that’s engrained at every level of our company, and a corporate commitment that was recognized by one of the nation’s leading diversity advocacy organizations.

Our very own HR Director, Jennifer Smith, was the recipient of the Leadership Excellence Award from the National Diversity Council during the recent 2017 Ohio Diversity and Leadership Conference. This accolade recognizes individuals or group of individuals who exceed the scope of what is expected in their organizations and communities.

Recipients of the Leadership Excellence Award undergo a meticulous selection process and must meet a rigorous set of criteria, including demonstrating honesty, integrity and fairness through ethical and moral leadership.

A few of her colleagues who have worked with Jennifer, some more than 10 years, nominated her for the award.

“Jennifer’s ability to address employee issues and concerns, as well as, her commitment to workplace engagement and employee development makes her one of the most integral members of our entire company,” said Todd Barnett, Vice President of Human Resources at ClarkDietrich Building Systems. “We couldn’t be more happy that her hard work and dedication has been recognized by such an esteemed organization like the National Diversity Council.”

Other criteria for award nominees included: empowering people around them by promoting achievement, goal attainment and continuous advancement while fostering collaboration by advocating cooperative goals and building through employee inclusion and teamwork. Additionally, cultivating a positive, creative, work environment and embracing innovation and creativity in all aspects of their professional activities.

The National Diversity Council is the first non-profit organization to bring together the private, public and non-profit sectors to discuss the many dimensions and benefits of a multicultural environment. The vision of NDC is to cultivate a nationwide network of affiliated councils to advance diversity and inclusion by transforming our work places and communities into inclusive environments where individuals are valued for their talents and empowered to reach their fullest potential.
